Jovena® by Brera Medical is a unique approach to facial rejuvenation that combines two patented procedures in a single device: Radiofrequency and DiatermoContraction. Deep dermal remodelling and muscle restoration promote skin tightening, firming, toning and lifting features.
In the past, the non invasive procedures focused more on skin changes and ignored the aging of the muscles, fat pads, retaining ligaments and bones. By understanding the age related changes in the anatomical facial layers, we can target the affected areas with more predictable outcomes. Ideally, treating facial aging should offer techniques that address skin sagging, repositioning of fat, muscle functions, bone atrophy, etc. Facial mimetic muscles are attached to the dermis and play a role of structural support of the soft tissues of our body. Senescence of facial muscles result from repetitive muscle contraction and muscle tone changes. With age, the motion amplitude shortens, the facial muscles lengthen and there is a loss of activity in some of them. The elasticity of the skin is affected by the quality of the collagen. With age, the synthesis rate of collagen decreases and the degradation increases. Meanwhile the synthesis of elastin starts to decline.
Jovena® by Brera Medical offers Facestim®, a treatment of combined bipolar radiofrequency and muscle contractions. This combination allows us to obtain lifted features and skin rejuvenation. The goal is to restore and enhance natural features to restablish the harmony of the facial volumes and to improve the skin texture and appearance.
Firstly, Diatermocontraction is a novel method patented by Brera Medical. It uses a modulation of a single frequency source which overcomes the limits of available techniques on the market (EMS, MS…) because the contraction reaches the deep layers of the muscles and produces a total fi bre recruitment, without causing any side effects.
The high frequency source produces a muscular contraction and synchronised thermal effect on the skin, if desired. Secondly, radiofrequency has been used to tighten the skin for more than 20 years with good results. Radiofrequency energy generates heat in the tissue which produces collagen denaturation. Heated fi broblasts produce new collagen formation and subsequent tissue remodeling, with shrinking of the lax connective tissue.
Consequently, the main benefits of this new technology are the rejuvenation of muscles (strengthening, toning and shaping), the prevention of their atrophy and also skin rejuvenation (firmer skin, less visible wrinkles). A more triangular shape, lifted features, enhanced mandibular contour, reduction of the nasolabial folds and marionette lines, lifted and volumised cheeks can also be achieved with this device. In addition, Jovena® allows us to target specific muscle groups in order to correct certain asymmetries of the face.
One of the major advantages of Jovena® by Brera Medical is its own bio-recognised characteristics that produce massive fibre recruitment while preserving the outstanding comfort during the treatment.
The applicator has a patented reticular geometry for optimised and homogenous heat diffusion. Usually 4 to 5 sessions are needed in order to achieve the desired results with a 15-20 min treatment.
The treatment is well tolerated, safe and effective, with immediate results and no downtime. The effects are visible from the first session and can last up to 6-8 months.
Finally, thanks to this procedure, we can reduce the amount of filler injected for volumisation and face contouring and obtain a more natural result. Combined with other devices like Radiofrequency Microneedling, ultrasounds or threads, Jovena® allows us to enhance the fi nal results. Also, this treatment can be useful in order to prevent and postpone skin surgery.
