Disconnect from technology and enjoy Biologique Recherche treatments
The InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort recently enriched its spa offer by teaming up with Biologique Recherche. The brand seized the opportunity to create a new range of treatments in the resort’s AVI spa. In parallel, the resort unveiled a “Digital Detox” programme to encourage guests to take a break from their screens.
Biologique Recherche, founded 40 years ago by Yvan and Josette, a biologist and a physiotherapist, stands out for its clinical methodology based on pure, concentrated and raw ingredients combined with innovative protocols. The French brand offers a three-step protocol for targeted analysis, preparation and treatment. Integrating this expertise into the InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort’s AVI spa (whose name means “sunshine”) enriches the wellness offer by providing new, more targeted face and body treatments. By teaming up with Biologique Recherche and adding their treatments to its menu, this temple of wellness is unveiling a host of new, even more revitalising experiences. Try their Soin Booster VIP 02, which detoxifies and stimulates the skin and reoxygenates the tissues that have been damaged by urban pollution. Tati Nurhayati, the resort’s spa manager, says, “We are delighted to team up with Biologique Recherche, a brand that combines luxury with innovation. This partnership allows us to perform tailored treatments that perfectly respond to the specific needs of every skin, offering visible and long-lasting results.”

A real sanctuary inspired by the Indian Ocean, the spa is a haven of tranquillity designed to blend in with the natural environment, with its six treatment cabins on stilts making use of the natural light to immerse guests in a state of deep relaxation. In addition to Biologique Recherche, guests have access to prestigious brands such as Eminence Organics, Kerstin Florian and Margaret Dabbs London. They can also try the Detox programme, which includes a consultation, a 90-minute plant-based massage, a yoga session, a spirulina mud wrap, lymphatic drainage and a Tok Sen Thai massage. The AVI spa was named “Luxury Island Resort Spa” at the World Luxury Spa Awards 2020, confirming its position among the best spa complexes in the Maldives.
Digital Detox programme

For anyone who wants to really switch off, the resort has also developed a “Digital Detox” programme to boost your serenity and help you reconnect with yourself for a more mindful experience. Guests are asked to hand in their devices at reception and stay offline during set times in order to reap the programme’s full benefits. Note that the location of the resort, at the southern tip of the Raa atoll, on the edge of a UNESCO world biosphere reserve (look out for manta rays!), makes it the ideal base for a silent retreat (there is also a “Hermit” option for those who want to take it a step further). The five-star services all help, as do the villas on stilts, adult-only pool area, six bars & restaurants, and 81 villas & apartments. The atoll is well-equipped as a wellbeing cocoon.
The InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort is an exclusive destination offering a unique opportunity to anyone who wants to relax and reconnect with themselves in a cocooning setting, where exclusive services go hand in hand with the personal touch of a signature treatment, in the first InterContinental Hotels & Resorts in the Maldives.
