The skin is an ambassador for the environment and society. It reflects our emotions, our health and reveals our beauty. In recent years, our patients’ focus has been firmly fixed on their skin and its quality.

The skin’s aging is, on the one hand, genetically programmed, with an accumulation of dead cells at the surface of the epidermis due to cell turnover, but also with the thinning of the dermis, which has less collagen density and a lower fibroblastic activity. However, the major causes of skin alteration are extrinsic or environmental. The sun and its UV rays lead to photo-aging, smoking damages the tissues, and we might also mention pollution, stress, the weather conditions (wind, cold, etc.)

Well aware of these effects, RELIFE, part of the MENARINI group, have developed the Definiss™ Peel Program, ready-to-use superficial peels that adapt to all skin types and treatment indications.

The synergic action of the actives efficiently exfoliates dead skin cells and stimulates the renewal and repair of the keratinocyte cells.

Simultaneously, the molecular messengers activate a fibroblastic response in the dermis, which activates the synthesis of the extracellular matrix, collagen and elastin, which plumps and revitalises the dermis.

The programme has three steps:

1. Preparation

The pre-peel gently cleanses without being aggressive and balances the skin’s pH.
For dry, thin or sensitive skin, use Definisse™ dry skin pre-peel. For combination, oily and acne-prone skin, use Definisse™ oily pre-peel.

2. Peel

The two different types of peel are suitable for several skin indications:
The Definisse™ classic peel acts upon the skin quality and skin rejuvenation. It is primarily made up of 3 synergic actives: salicylic acid, pyruvic acid and retinoic acid.

The DefinisseTM lightening peel adds two lightening ingredients (LumiskinTM, diacetyl boldine, and SepiwhiteTM, undecylenoyl phenylalanine) to this trio, to target melanic pigmentation.

3. Neutralisation

The peel is then neutralised using the Definisse™ neutralising buffer. The pH is brought to a physiological value of 5.5. Because the components work in synergy with one another, their concentration and aggressiveness has been reduced. This way, in most cases, there is no downtime or cutaneous damage after treatment.

The programme is repeated every month for three months, or until the desired result is achieved. It can be carried out on its own or combined with other treatments for a personalised treatment plan: Definisse™ Threads, Definisse™ Filler.

Personally, I like to use the Definisse™ Peel Program after laser, reshaping and resurfacing treatments, to prolong the results over the long term and unveil the patient’s radiant new skin.
