An area long neglected by Westerners, who were preoccupied with breasts, the buttocks have become a key weapon for seduction thanks to the Brazilian influence.
At Kate and William’s wedding, the world was transfixed by Pippa Middleton’s perfect behind, her pert buttocks perfectly showcased by a sublimely-fitted dress. If the shape of your bum leaves a lot to be desired, there are plenty of ways to improve it.
Plan A: get exercising
Is your bottom too flabby? Get exercising to tone up the muscles and optimise the shape of your bum. Walking gets great results, providing it is done on a daily basis. The simple exercise shown below will enhance these effects, providing it is done daily:
Lie down on your front, with your arms stretched out above you and your palms flat on the floor. You might put a small cushion under your belly to reduce the arch of your back. Lift both legs, squeezing the top of the buttocks and the abdominal muscles, without forgetting to breathe. Release. Repeat 20 times.
Down with orange-peel skin!
To smooth the epidermis and get rid of orange-peel skin without affecting the buttocks’ shape, combine carboxytherapy treatments with multipolar radiofrequency. By increasing oxygen flow to the cells, carboxytherapy galvanises cell exchange and encourages the elimination of fat pads. Radiofrequency enhances these effects and, moreover, improves the skin’s surface. Plan to have 5 to 6 sessions, leaving a week in between each session.
Get rid of stretch marks
In order to erase these white stripes, a combination of carboxytherapy and microneedling works wonders. By boosting oxygen flow to the cells, carboxytherapy encourages cell regeneration. Microneedling, which involves injecting the skin using different sized micro-needles, stimulates fibroblast production.
Shape your buttocks
To improve the shape of your buttocks, consider injections of highly cross-linked – i.e. very compact – hyaluronic acid, such as Macrolane ®. This is one of the most effective methods for rounding out the lower part of the buttock. Because a large quantity of product is required in order to create an attractive shape, the cost can be quite high, especially given that a top-up session is required every 18 to 24 months. It is fairly painful, and patients must avoid sitting or sleeping on their back in the days following the procedure, so as not to displace the injected product. Tensor threads and tissue inducers, meanwhile, can lift the buttocks. A specialist inserts the threads under local anaesthetic. The results settle down in 3 to 6 months, and the threads will need renewing every year or two years.
Slim down your behind
If your bottom is too large, there is nothing better than HIFU or focused ultrasounds to reshape it. They destroy excess fat while improving the skin tone. Three sessions are required, with a month in between. Cryolipolysis, meanwhile, is great for the fat that lurks in the fold under your buttock. It works by freezing and thus destroying the fat cells. But it cannot be used on the whole bum, as it works best on small, well-defined areas.
