The harmony of longevity: Music, dance and anti-aging medicine

  • 27th January 2025
  • Thierry PIOLATTO

In this article, Doctor Khamzat Bekov joins Doctor Jean-François Bézot to explore the fascinating link between music, anti-aging medicine and wellbeing, shining the spotlight on the multiple ways in which music positively influences physical, mental and emotional health, thus helping to slow down the aging process.

THE BENEFITS OF MUSIC ON AGING

Cognitive function:

Music improves the memory and stimulates neuroplasticity, boosting our cognitive capacity and reducing the risk of neurodegenerative disease (dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, etc.).

Recovering from stress:

It reduces our cortisol levels, a hormone the human body requires to function but which, when in excess, has negative effects (sleep issues, arteriosclerosis connected with hypertension which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, immunosuppression which leads to diseases such as osteoporosis).

Emotional wellbeing:

It promotes a positive emotional state and reduces depression and anxiety, thus improving  the quality of life of elderly people. If we are kind to our neurotransmitters, they will be kind to us.

Physical health:

Music has a positive influence on the cardiovascular system, lowering blood pressure and regulating the heart rate.

Cell regeneration and hormones:

It stimulates the production of dopamine and oxytocin, promoting cell regeneration and the desire to live and love, which is where pleasure and wellbeing come in.

Gene expression:

Certain studies show that music could influence the genes connected with cell repair and slowing down aging. Every living organism is a real vortex of matter and energy. The body is kept alive by an energy flow called vital energy. This energy maintains the body in a perfect state of health, the normal condition for any human being to feel well and experience joie de vivre. Life is a rhythm and music sets the tempo. Could the treble clef be one of the keys to longevity? The DNA double helix is constantly moving, contracting or stretching, vibrating or receiving vibrations.

We are at the very centre of life.

Like all biological systems, the cells give and receive energy thanks to resonators, which means that they start vibrating at the same frequency as the frequency by which they are attracted. DNA is the organ that dictates these vital rhythms. The electrons – quantum particles – drive and construct all living things. Electrons shape the long spiral of the DNA molecule.

It is the electron that allows living things to be born, grow, be nourished, feel emotions and think, as it is the only material unit that comes into direct contact with our psyche, uses our memory, sees the world outside and reacts to all of the actions of the elements that make up the terrestrial universe. Music is a source of good vibrational frequencies. The genome provides, the environment decides…so let music set the tempo! Social engagement: Enjoying music in groups, such as choirs, strengthens social ties, thus reducing loneliness and its negative effects on aging.

MUSIC, DANCE AND LONGEVITY IN CAUCASIAN PEOPLE.

Doctor Bekov also highlights the cultural role that music and dance play in Caucasian regions, whose populations are known for their high number of centenarians.

These practices, which are integrated into their lifestyle, contribute at various levels:

• Physical activity: Traditional dance promotes cardiovascular health.

• Social cohesion: These practices strengthen the bond between families and whole communities.

• Psychological and emotional wellbeing: They give joy and a sense of belonging. Charity, loving oneself and others, giving and receiving are all life sources.

Though Caucasian longevity is the result of a combination of factors, music and dance play a key role in promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Music is much more than an aesthetic pleasure: it is a powerful tool for maintaining health, delaying aging and boosting social wellbeing.

The current research confirms that its role in anti-aging medicine deserves more attention as part of a holistic approach to health, longevity and wellbeing. The fundamental aim of this new quantum vision of medical science (called P4 Medicine@) is to reset the patient’s energy by addressing all aspects of their person. Music is therefore a fantastic lever of action.
