Two factors cause aging: chrono aging and photo aging. Both lead to the thinning of the skin and tissue atrophy.
The facial rejuvenation approach takes into account these anatomical and functional dynamics and involves the use of combined techniques.
Treatment is different for men and women who present light to moderate signs of aging compared with those who do not present any at all.
Treatment with no visible signs of aging
The two aims of the treatment are to obtain flawless skin and to perfect the face’s volumes.
For the facial volumes, we can either increase the existing volumes (chin projection, plumped cheekbones, lips, etc.) or create them (changing the shape of the face, making it more feminine, masculine or like the patient’s supplied photos).
To do this, we use hyaluronic acid. A careful analysis of the face, and a hand and eye that are experienced in creating the right proportions and facial volumes, are essential.
For the skin, we are often asked to treat redness or give a boost of radiance for “clear, even skin”. We use lasers that are suited to the problem and the skin type. A clinical analysis, helped by skin diagnosis machines such as the IOMA sphere, is carried out before treatment.
For a boost of radiance, we suggest lasers or mesotherapy.
Treatment with visible signs of aging
The two aims of the treatment are to treat skin aging and to restore the facial volumes.
Faces change by becoming hollower or drooping, or often both.
All mature faces show signs of muscle aging in the upper third of the face: the appearance of forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, glabellar lines, and dropping eyebrows. Botulinum toxin is the go-to treatment for this.
The facial volumes (hollowing of the temples, the parotid area, discreet plumping of the lips) need restoring with hyaluronic acid injections, and we must also lift the face.
My basic lifting technique is the one designed by surgeon Mauricio Di Maio: a medical lift using hyaluronic acid. The aim is to naturally restore the triangle of youth and avoid classic errors such as overfilling the nasolabial folds and tear trough.
The skin has lost its tonus and elasticity, becoming wrinkled and dull, and pigmentation and vascular marks appear. A clinical analysis is carried out, possibly including a detailed skin analysis using a diagnosis tool such as the IOMA sphere.
Pigmentation (marks) and redness that have appeared with age can be treated with lasers.
A loss of skin density, elasticity and hydration can be treated with lasers or hyaluronic acid products, such as Skinboosters.
To boost the skin’s radiance, we use mesotherapy or lasers.
