A new laser has recently entered the world of treatments for skin imperfections. It is the Origin laser, a 100% French-made laser that offers skin rejuvenation with very few side effects and spectacular results.

What is the Origin laser?

Origin laser is an Er: fractioned glass, non-invasive and non-ablative laser with a very specific wavelength of 1550nm. It allows a deeper penetration in the tissues and better tissue regeneration over the long term.

What makes this new laser so exclusive is its 70μm micro-beams, the finest on the market, that guarantee the activation of the fibroblasts, thus the production of new collagen without any changes to the superficial layers of the skin.

What are the indications of the Origin laser?

The Origin laser is used in the treatment of many conditions, for any age or skin phototype.

The main indications are:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Enlarged pores
  • Scars and acne scars
  • Pigmented lesions and melasma
  • Stretch marks

Some contraindications do exist, such as sun exposure which must be avoided before and after the sessions, pregnancy and breastfeeding, photosensitising drugs, localised cancer lesions and wound healing disorders.

What happens during a session?

For the session to be as comfortable as possible, it is recommended to apply a numbing cream such as Emla one hour be-fore starting the treatment. It is compulsory to wear protective goggles. Once the treatment area has been disinfected, the applicator is moved from point to point until the entire treatment area has been covered.

The session is almost pain free thanks to the Elma cream and the cold air jet released during treatment. A session lasts between 20 and 40 minutes according to the treatment area and the number of laser passes which are diffe-rent for each indication. It is highly recommended to use sunblock for 3 weeks following treatment. Some redness, oedema, dry skin sensation may occur. They disappear within 2-3 days and may be covered with makeup.

What is the treatment protocol?

The protocol varies according to the indication and the serious-ness of the lesions treated. The Origin laser is a smart device able to adapt the treatment protocols and offer every patient a customised treatment. 4 to 6 sessions with 2-4 weeks interval are necessary. The results achieved during the first session improve with time.

They are permanent for indications such as scars and stretch marks. For progressive indications such as wrinkles, it is re-commended to perform 1 or 2 follow-up sessions every year to perpetuate the initial treatment results.

Today, the new Origin laser is a device of choice in the treatment of various skin imperfections such as scars, melasma or fine lines in all types of patients, whatever their age or skin phototype, offering interesting results and no downtime.
