Hyaluronic acid enables us to reshape the nose without surgery and thus obtain a natural-looking result without the risks that are inherent in any surgical procedure. This means that we can correct the nose in a reversible and immediate way, without anaesthetic and without pain, before going down the road of surgery. These injections can, in certain cases, be combined with injections of botulinum toxin.
Due to its position in the middle of the face and its volume, the nose is a central feature of the face and can have a variety of different appearances:
– “hook” or “Roman” nose
– “humped” nose
– “turned-up” nose or “snub” nose
– “bulbous” nose
– short and flat, squashed nose
– “Greek” nose, running in a straight line from the forehead to the tip of the nose
– “Egyptian” nose, running in a straight line from the glabella (between the eyebrows) to the tip of the nose.
Modifying the nose in either a voluntary (e.g. through surgery) or involuntary (e.g. through injury) way can affect both the harmony and balance of the face as well as the functional aspect of the nasal organ.
Medical rhinoplasty only allows us to correct the nose’s “visible” imperfections, such as: lifting the tip of the nose, improving the nose’s projection, correcting any bumps, erasing any asymmetry/crookedness of the bridge, slimming down an “ethnic” nose, and correcting any residual imperfections after surgery.
What happens during the procedure?
After a consultation to find out what the patient’s expectations are, photographs are taken and a detailed clinical examination of the nose is carried out, both head on and from the side. The different angles around the nose are also measured, such as:
– the naso-labial angle, which will allow us to lift the tip of the nose (an injection of Vistabel® botulinum toxin might also be carried out)
– the dorsal-lobular angle, which will allow us to erase a hump on the dorsum (bridge) of the nose
– the fronto-nasal angle, to camouflage a hump on the bridge or to “shorten” the nose
The injection of tiny quantities of a filler product such as hyaluronic acid (e.g. Volift® or Voluma® from ALLERGAN laboratories), using a very fine needle or micro-cannula, enables us to correct the nose in an immediate, subtle and natural-looking way.
The patient can return to their daily business immediately, with a shapely new nose. An appointment will be made for around two weeks later in order to assess the result and finish off the procedure if necessary.
How long will it last?
Depending on which product is injected, the aesthetic result can last between 12 and 18 months. The duration varies according to the patient’s age, skin type, way of life and the area treated (static or dynamic).
How much does it cost?
Usually between €350 and €500.
