Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are used in a considerable number of procedures each year due to their unequaled ease of administration, effectiveness, and safety profile.
According to recent statistics, the majority of aesthetic procedures carried out in the US currently occur with al HA dermal fillers. This trend is expected to increase since there presently is no other class of filling agent that rivals the properties and advantages of HA fillers.
A new era for Hyaluronic Acid based filler has arrived. MATEXLAB, a Swiss company employing people with 20 years of experience in manufacturing fillers and biomaterial, introduced into the market Neauvia Organic, HA fillers, a line of products derived from the fermentation of safe and non-pathogenic bacterial strain Bacillus Subtilis. Fillers with an unmatched HA purity and no residual of nucleic acids, proteins, bacterial endotoxins and microbial contamination.
The purity of the HA raw material and the innocuousness of the crosslinking technology are crucial elements for a safety filler.
Innovative raw material
The innovative raw material is based on HA extract from “Bacillus Subtilis”, instead of the one extracted from “Streptococcus Equi”. The difference is perceptible and substantial in terms of safety and biocompatibility, in fact the unique non crosslinked product, available in Neauvia Organic range, is the only one worldwide that can be safely injected even with a 3% concentration of HA! This new kind of Hyaluronian, extract from Bacillus Subtilis (NON-pathogen bacillus for Humans), is a patented HA extraction in distilled water, so without the need of any chemical solvent. The ultrapure raw material does not contain any protein nor nucleic acid, nor endotoxins, which are the contaminants, main responsible of the allergic reactions, because the bacteria membrane is not broken to extract the HA as it is happening during the Streptococcus Equi process. HA from Bacillus Subtilis has been already recognized GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) in US and it has been successfully applied in other fields like ophthalmology.
Crosslinking with PEG polymer
Safety, efficacy and duration of fillers depends on how they are stabilized. The scientist at MATEXLAB substituted the current monomer, used as cross-linker (BDDE), with a safer and more mechanical resistant polymer (PEG). Safety is due to the lower level of toxicity of PEG in comparison with BDDE (LD = Lethal Dose is 30 times lower) and due to the ability of PEG in stopping the immunological reaction, blocking the formation of the FBGC = Foreign Body Giant Cells. Mechanical resistance is due to the REAL IPN (Interpenetrating Polymer Network) technology where both the polymers get advantages from the combination with the other and from the unique property of PEG to delay the degradation by proteolytic enzymes. The advantages are strongly evident both in terms of safety and in terms of mechanical properties. So, no more choosing between safety and long-lasting effect.
Double action fillers
Neauvia Organic Stimulate is the first product worldwide with double action: filler effect thanks to the cross-linked HA and bio-stimulation effect due to a very safe use of CaHA (just 1%). The use of PEG as crosslinking agent allows the allocation, during the manufacturing procedure, of 8 to 12 micron size molecules of CaHA inside the clusters of the polymer. It is very easy to understand the difference with similar products present on the market in the past years where CaHA was not encapsulated in the cross linking agent, so it was immediately all available in bigger molecule sizes: CaHA molecules tend to aggregate in macromolecules, if not allocated in the cross linking agent, with dimensions bigger than the phagocytes, causing the formation of FBGC and so granulomas. During the natural degradation of the product, there is a continuous release of small particles of CaHA, that is a naturally occurring mineral, safe for the human body, stimulating the process of neocollagenesis and the density and the structure of the skin. Thanks to its low molecular mass and concentration, the application of hydroxyapatite contained in Neauvia products is safe without interfering with the perfect volumetric and revitalizing effect of hyaluronic acid.
