The 7/9 point-shape is an innovative new concept, along with the MD Codes, to reshape the facial contours with hyaluronic acid injections.
It is a very specific treatment plan that is used for both men and women, for young patients who want cleaner contours or older patients who want to improve any sagging for a more defined oval. The MD Codes were designed by Dr Mauricio De Maio and systematised the injection points for hyaluronic acid in all of the anatomical zones of the face. The face is made up of 12 separate anatomical areas and, for each zone, precise injection points have been set out: the MD Codes (sub-units). The MD Codes allow us to achieve visible and natural-looking results when the face is at rest and in movement. It is an innovative language in the field of facial aesthetics. It is a straightforward and effective method that makes it easier for doctors to communicate with patients, set up a treatment plan and optimise the results.
Each MD Code is designated by a letter, a number and a colour and goes with a recommended injection technique.
The letter corresponds to the initial of the anatomical zone in English, while the number refers to a point (sub-unit) within the anatomical zone. For the cheekbone, for example, there are 5 points designated by the MD Code CK, for the jawline there are also 5 points, identified with the letters JW, and the letter C is used for the 6 MD Codes on the chin.
THE 7/9 POINT-SHAPE
When a patient wants to look less saggy or to redefine their facial contours, this combination of injection points is the ideal solution. This combination of MD Codes will raise and lift the cheeks, highlight the mandibular angle, define the jawline and shape the chin. For women, 7 points are required and for men, 2 more points can be added for men to make the face look more masculine (square jaw and wide chin). The hyaluronic acid injections are carried out into the cheek (CK1, CK4) to redefine the zygomatic arch and have a lifting effect; into the angle of the jaw (JW1) and its upward branch for men (JW2); along the jawline (JW5, JW5); and into the chin (C1, C2 and C5 for men).
This protocol is carried out in one single session, the results are visible immediately afterwards and no downtime is re-quired. Depending on the injection points, the injections are carried out either with a needle or a cannula. The type of hyaluronic acid used also varies according to the injection zone. The MD Codes were developed for the Juvéderm VYCROSS range from Allergan.
In the cheeks, we use Juvéderm VOLUMA, and for the jaw and chin, we use Juvéderm VOLUX. High cheekbones, a well-defined jawline and a firm chin are the results one can expect from this new treatment proto-col, when performed by doctors who have been given spe-cial MD Code training by Dr Mauricio De Maio.
